RAYS OF HOPE

I was running away from It,
running hard not to get in clutch of It.
Nevertheless I don't know what was It??

In the brightness of the twilight
standing on the side of the river,
i was waiting for everything to
become animate.
While killing time I saw river was shining
in BLACK & WHITE.
Swiftly some light comes out of the darkness
and from the other side of the shore , a glistering
body starts coming out of the water at a snail's pace.
And finally it was there ,Newly born ,& I saw how it
lights up all directions.
A small ball illuminating the world.

There was a streak of water glittering by the
uninterrupted rays .
It was like it was coming round the sky into the
river directed solely for me.
I tried to abscond it on the shore but the streak
followed me.
I realized it was The light of Hope ,
continually following me and asking
me again to HOPE.
Now, i have stopped running,
I have rejuvenated by thoughts ,
It's "MY NEW HOPE".

  1. it's really good to hear this.:-) however you must learn from the streak of light. it follows you till it convinces you to hope again. similarly you must pursue your hope with all your heart if you wish to convert it into reality.all the best :-)

  2. one should hope only for those things which he cant achieve by his intense desire. I think it was you who were following the stream of light. The sun has no dearth of hope!

  3. Manish...you are contradicting yourself. What is hope worth if you already assume that the object of desire can't be achieved at all even with all your intensity? This is a pessimistic start towards a goal.

Also, the poem beautifully describes how Sun gives hope to not just an individual but to the entire world & has always done so. It reminds one & all, that after the darkest hour of the night comes a fresh start to everything. The misfortunes of the past are obliterated & a new platform is raised.

  4. few lines are always difficult to interpret rightly..i mean to say that if a person has intense desire to achieve his goal ,he doesn;t need hope to get it.Simply by his desire followed by hard work and vision ,one can achieve his target.
But people do not give up 'hope' .

i totally agree with ur view in second para.

  5. Manish..the dictionary meaning of 'hope' is 'strong desire' itself. So when one desires something, he automatically hopes for it.

Also, you are here making an assumption that the journey towards a goal will be a smooth ride with no hiccups. However, we must remember that on our path towards every milestone we encounter numerous roadblocks. At such times, when we are down, we need our hope to further strengthen our efforts & endeavor.

For example, the strongest of armies when met with calamities, collapse if they don't have hope left in their cause, just like when Alexander's army was struck with great plague.

On the other hand, a small battalion of 250 men defended their post for an entire night against an entire tank battalion at Longewala by the sheer hope that they had in the air force which would come to their rescue at day break.

  6. thanks for the comments guys...this has become a battle ground of hope...@rahul..the streak of light also shows us a defined path ,if u are on a wrong path it again again tries to show the right path i.e from any position u can make to ur ultimate goal....u rightly said about the war front...its the hope that is the most deadliest weapon they have...without hope no battle in this world could have been won...

@manish...actually its the hope that shows you the path towards your desires..desires are like the stars in the sky ..u can see it but can't touch it...it's the light of star which shows the path towards it (ray of hope)..I was not following the streak of light..actually i was trying to run away from it..dude i totally disagree with u that sun has no hope...the whole life cycle goes on the hope of rising of the sun...

  8. Naah...nothing like a battleground....although you should feel honored to host minds like us debating it out on your blog :P

Anuj...i'm completely lost in the battle of right & wrong as it happens so frequently that what we perceive right today, appears wrong tomorrow & vice versa. this transformation is so baffling at times, that I've stopped using the word 'wrong', rather I prefer the phrase 'not my kinda right'. At least it lets me accept the transformation with a lesser jerk. What do you think?

  9. a rally of comments..whatever it is! I would have liked it to be on my blogs too but i do not 'hope' for it!
coming to dictionary meaning..how the following sentences would look like:
A 10 year old boy says"I hope to become a doctor".
    or
A 10 year old boy says"I desire to become a doctor".
Doesnt there a difference between the two sentences! It clearly depicts the mindset of the boy on these two occasions. what i think hope is a feeling of desiring something.

@anuj..perhaps u have got me wrong..I have typed"the sun has got no dearth(lack) of hope"

@Right & Wrong:its just like an experiment in a laboratory where u get a number of observations and when u try to fit these onto a graph ,there is always a deviation from the standard value which is nothing but set by a human.similarly we come across a no of situations in life that our views goes on changing from a so(not) called a standard view set by a human!
but ur 'kinda right' looks a good positive attitude.

  10. Manish..interesting way of putting down the right & wrong issue. And as you agree to the meaning of the word 'hope', i'd also like to mention that 'hope' has more weight attached to it. It can even be felt in your example. It is born out of belief in your goal which only comes with time. Where as desire exists right from the beginning, from the time we are attracted towards our goal. So I'd go back to my initial point, if desire is not supported by hope, we'll falter at the very first obstacle.
